There is more wisdom in your body than your deepest philosophy.
Massage is a healing art that is thousands of years old. It can help to loosen tight muscles, soothe the nerves, detoxify the body and increase flexibility. I use a variety of techniques depending on your needs. Sometimes something simply relaxing and soothing is needed as a way to unwind and enjoy being in your body. Or particular tensions, pain and injuries need to be addressed worked out and stretched. I use an eclectic mix of techniques, mainly Thai, Swedish and deep tissue but many others that I have created and picked up over time.
I also usually like to work with aromatherapy oils as the plant essences have healing properties that can greatly enhance the massage. Smell is the only sense that has a direct link with the brain and according to studies 75% of emotions are triggered by smell so this can powerfully alter the state of a person's mind.
Massage is helpful for
- Muscular aches and pains
- Stress relief
- Lymphatic drainage
Chi Nei Tsang (abdomen and organ massage)
Chi Nei Tsang has it's roots in China and was developed by Taoist monks. It is a form of massage that works predominantly on the abdomen and organs. We also do Healing Sounds for each organ to release emotions and also as a form of breathwork. Specific issues in the body, the lymph nodes and the circulatory system and blood flow can also be worked on where appropriate.
The basic premise behind it is that negative emotions and toxins can get trapped in the stomach and organs leading to digestive problems, illnesses and emotional issues (anxiety, depression etc...). We are also working with the traditional Chinese Medicine concept of balancing the 5 elements within ourselves and the 5 organs (Metal, Fire, Wood, Earth and Water). According to Taoists the navel centre is the doorway between the physical body and the energy body so keeping it clear of blockages can lead to unifying your body, mind and spirit.
Chi Nei Tsang is an incredibly powerful treatment that can help to alleviate a large number of issues. Including all of the points above for massage but also:
- Digestive issues
- Menstrual problems
- Opening the torso to allow deeper breathing
- Increased lung capacity
- Increased awareness of the organs
- Emotional issues (anxiety, depression etc...)
- Adrenal fatigue
